I Love You 07:47
A man carried metal Carried gold More than he could handle More than he could hold It weighed him down To a sand shallowed grave Where his bones were eaten By a heatwave While here it rains all night And it blows a sweet breeze Think, I'll call you up And say, "Please, baby, please" I love you, I love you Yeah, I love you Yeah, I love you Ah, the dream machine Makes it hard to see If I could stand outside myself And watch it come to me I'd make the dream Filter down to my fingers And rip at the fools head And follow your scent that lingers 'Cause I love you Yeah, I love you I love you Yeah, I love you 'Til the crash And the booming of the white bomb Come sure, come soon Come leave just one song One song, one beat One dust, one end, one for all One stone for the marking For the dream when it falls When I love you When I love you Yeah, I love you Oh yeah, love you I love you

Look out the left, the captain said The lights down there, that's where we'll land I saw a falling star burn up Above the Las Vegas sands; It wasn't the one that you gave to me That night down south between the trailer; Not the early one That you can wish upon; Not the northern one That guides in the sailors Oh star bright, star bright You've got the lovin' that I like, all right Turn this crazy bird around I shouldn't have got on this flight tonight You got the touch so gentle and sweet But you've got that look so critical I can't talk to you baby I get so weak Sometimes I think love is just mythical Up there's a heaven Down there's a town Blackness everywhere and little lights shine Blackness, blackness dragging me down Come on light the candle in this poor heart of mine Oh star bright, star bright You've got the lovin' that I like, all right Turn this crazy bird around I shouldn't have got on this flight tonight I'm drinking sweet champagne Got the headphones up high Can't numb you out Can't drum you out of my mind They're playing, Goodbye baby, Baby Goodbye, Ooh, ooh, love is blind Up go the flaps, down go the wheels I hope you got your heat turned on baby I hope they finally fixed your automobile I hope it's better when we meet again baby Star bright, star bright You got the lovin' that I like, all right Turn this crazy bird around I shouldn't have got on this flight tonight

I once had a girl Or should I say She once had me. She showed me her room Isn't it good? Norwegian Wood. She asked me to stay and she told me to sit anywhere I looked around and I noticed there wasn’t a chair! I sat on the rug Biding my time Drinking her wine We talked until two And then she said, it’s time for bed. She told me she worked in the morning and started to laugh. I told her I didn’t and crawled off to sleep in the bath And when i awoke I was alone This bird had flown So i lit a fire Isn’t it good? Norwegian Wood.

Alfie 06:02
What's it all about, Alfie? Is it just for the moment we live? What's it all about when you sort it out, Alfie? Are we meant to take more than we give Or are we meant to be kind? And if only fools are kind, Alfie Then I guess it's wise to be cruel And if life belongs only to the strong, Alfie What will you lend on an old golden rule? As sure as I believe there's a heaven above, Alfie I know there's something much more Something even non-believers can believe in I believe in love, Alfie Without true love we just exist, Alfie Until you find the love you've missed you're nothing, Alfie When you walk let your heart lead the way And you'll find love any day, Alfie Alfie ...

WATER WATER ON THE SEEDS TO MY LEFT THEY ROSE AND LEAF TO MY RIGHT CROSS SEVEN SEAS HMMMM MAYBE MAYBE THEY’LL STAY TRUE MY SEEDS WILL CROSS AND THEN TAKE ROOT AND LEAD YOU TO AN EMPTY ROOM LONELY LONELY, THAT IS YOU LONELY LONELY, THAT IS YOU PAPER PAPER OBSOLETE HOW WILL YOU REACH OUT TO ME I THOUGHT YOU’D ASK ME NOT TO LEAVE LONELY LONELY THAT IS ME LONELY LONELY THAT IS ME DISTANCE MAKES THE HEART GROW WEAK SO THAT THE MOUTH CAN BARELY SPEAK EXCEPT TO THOSE WHO HIDE THEIR NEEDS AND I HAVE READ THE GOLDEN SEAL THAT TELLS OF HOW THE SEEDLINGS FEEL REMINDS MY HEART, WHAT LOVE CAN YIELD. BY MY ONLY, THINGS ARE CLEAR BABY BOY I’M STAYING HERE. LONELY LONELY THAT WAS YOU. LONELY AND SO I AM TRUE.

Repetition 04:52
I’d like to think I could quit you anytime But you’re not a cigarette Or a glass of wine You make the rules And I break them every time With my careful sentiment Even though they’re true Loyal to my detriment Dedicated to a fault From day one ‘till now We got along somehow Repetition feeds a habit Repetition kills a high A slow, sad sigh One way to say goodbye

Midnight Sun 04:29
Your lips were like a red and ruby chalice warmer than the summer night The clouds were like an alabaster palace rising to a snowy height Each star it's own aurora borealis suddenly you held me tight I could see the midnight sun I can't explain the silver rain that found me or was that moonlit veil The music of the universe around me or was that a nightingale And then your arms miraculously found me suddenly the sky turned pail I could see the midnight sun Was there such a night? It's a thrill I still don't quite believe But after you were gone there was still some stardust on my sleeve The pain of it may dwindle to an ember and the stars forget to shine And we may see the meadow in December, Icy white and crystalline But oh my darlin’ always I'll remember when your lips were close to mine And I saw the Midnight Sun

Exquisite Corpse, drink the new wine A folded page Conceals the old line Escape from sequence, an abstract consequence You cannot move, You have been defined Yet I remain With the first line. I cannot leave anything behind No longer, do I presume to intervene I cannot move, but I can decline I met you here, in the chalk line There was paint in your veins Now these sidewalk stains A canvas of another slain Disgust and disbelief Could they imagine what it is To exist as a motif I am the GOD of repair I am here to heal But I condemn, my cautionary tales read like a script I am art I believe I am shading and perspective But You are the living light I am the child’s gaze of hunger But you are the child I’m a story someone heard It was about you Why do they paint me Facing the canvas The combinations have been deadly I was humour, but also bigotry I was fear, I pulled the trigger Backed up the shots with history We met in the air. I am the God of repair I am here to heal but I condemn My cautionary tales read like a script I am art, I believe I am shading and perspective But you are the living light I am a child’s gaze of hunger But you are the child

"Is it lasting?", and in asking, the sphere becomes a line A dotted line, and to follow it, you must make a jump each time A dotted page, a dotted hillside, a blast of dots A blind reader, a flock of sheep, or a blast of trumpet shots Here All we have here is sky All the sky is, is blue All that blue is, is one more colour now To measure the tower's invisible sway inside the moving skies The cough of a swallow that softly lies there as loudly as it died The same as the vendor who likes to sing as loudly as he can All he says is, "It suits me fine, that's the way I am" Here All we have here is sky All the sky is, is blue All that blue is, is one more colour now Speak a little softer, work a little harder, shoot less with more care Sing a little sweeter, and love a little longer, and soon you will be there Here All we have here is sky All the sky is, sky blue All that blue is, s One more colour One more colour One more colour now And these are some reasons, just like the seasons, they turn and then they fly The honkless geese 'neath the goatless ledge in The speckless sky The speckless sky The speckless sky I hear you I hear you I hear you

about

Aimee-Jo Benoit and Trio Velocity take tunes from the musical journey of the artist, and loosely arrange them, allowing the song to breathe and morph into the connectedness of the quartet, bringing listening to the forefront of their musical experience.

We were brought together by the death of a close friend and colleague 4 years ago, in an improvisational performance at his wake. The energy brought about by our grief exhumed a special connection. For each performance of a particular tune, including the recording, we loosely arrange the feel and structure but listen to each other so intensely that we allow for the song to develop and grow in its own way.
